Every piece starts here — out in the desert, behind the camera, in the wild. Then comes to life with at my sewing machine. I design it. I make it. I shoot it. South of West isn’t just a label—it’s my lovechild, built stitch by stitch for the brides who do things differently. This isn’t bridal made for glass boxes and stiff poses. These pieces are cut for the barefoot, the road-trippers, the ones who pack their boots with their dress. You’ll move in these gowns. You’ll breathe. You’ll live.

I start with reworked vintage patterns and heirloom textiles—embroidered lace, textured cottons, and washed linens—blending timeless silhouettes with a raw, contemporary edge.
Each gown lives somewhere between soft and strong, rugged and romantic, desert and sea.
Crafted with care from both vintage and new fabrics, these pieces are built for movement, made to be lived in, and made to last.

The Designer
I’m Brie—designer, maker, photographer, writer, all of it. South of West is my one-woman studio, built from the ground up in Oceanside, California. Every gown starts with my hands and ends with yours. No factories, no fluff. Just craftsmanship, storytelling, and a whole lot of soul.
Ironically I didn’t grow up dreaming of weddings. I grew up in the dirt between San Diego and Baja, where the desert meets a green river and a sea. There were long rides into the desert, endless days spent happy and dirty. a lot of South of West is my interpretation of this place where rugged meets romantic.
I’ve had a longstanding affinity for shaking shit up. I am a self taught designer, and began my career in 2014 making swimwear. Designing wedding gowns came on a whim but I quickly fell madly in love. My appreciation for the desert and sea run deep, and are at the crux of every design. I use these collections to tell stories of strong and resilient women, who embody an adventurous spirit and are free from others perceptions.

While South of West very much started in my "garage", our 365 sq ft Oceanside showroom is now where all the magic happens. You can book a one-on-one appointment to try on gowns, explore custom options, or simply hang out in a space made with intention. No pressure. No sales pitches. Just you, your body, your story.
It's less bridal boutique, more creative sanctuary to inspire brides.
